Obituary of Lolita Cucci
Lolita McCormick Cucci of Pompton Plains passed away on February 14th 2020. She was 88.
Born in Montclair to Gedney and Alice (nee Ballantyne) McCormick, Lolita graduated Bloomfield High School and Berkeley Secretarial School, East Orange and was employed by Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Fairfield where she met her husband Joseph. They married and settled in Pompton Plains where she lived until 2020. While raising their four children, Lolita continued her education at William Paterson University evenings earning a Bachelor of Arts degree; majoring in Elementary Education.
Growing up she enjoyed sports, especially playing softball and bowling. Lolita shared this love with her children and grandchildren. She followed WWE wrestling with her sons and was always hopeful that the Mets could take another World Series. She shared her many talents as a Cub Scout Den Mother, avid Cake Decorator, volunteer at Our Lady of Good Counsel School and Church and Holy Spirit School. Lolita especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. They kept her busy with all their activities.
Lolita is survived by her children, Jane Witte and her husband Stephen, Susan Colucci and her husband Daniel, Robert and his wife Jeanne, and Brian and his wife Lee Ann; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Kate, Jarret, Justin, Taylor, Anthony, Julia, and Michael; and four great-grandchildren; her brother Gedney McCormick and his wife Nancy of Manahawkin and Alice Lesh and her husband Robert of Mountain View, CA; and was predeceased by her brother Jerome of The Villages, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph.
A funeral service will take place on February 21 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains at 11a.m. Interment will follow at the Our Lady of the Magnificat Church Cemetery, Kinnelon. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday February 20 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
