Doris Arnot, 89, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Clearwater, Florida, Montville, and Nutley, died Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the care of her family.
Born in Newark, Doris was raised in North Arlington, alongside her brothers, Robert and James, and sister, Helen. Doris met Richard Arnot through the church they both attended since childhood, and in 1953, they married.
The couple settled in Nutley, where Doris and Richard enjoyed raising their four children. IN 1969, Doris and Richard purchased a farm in Upstate New York . The family enjoyed many summers and weekends there were always open to family and friends. They moved to Montville in 1982 and there joyfully welcomed the addition of grandchildren to the family.
Following Richard's retirement, the couple moved to Clearwater, Florida. Doris, always one to enjoy social gatherings, enjoyed meeting new people and getting together with friends in the state's warm weather.
To be closer to family, Richard and Doris moved to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains in 2008. They loved the community, and made many friends there. Following Richard's death in 2013, Doris was grateful for her new community, as it allowed her to continue to have an independent lifestyle, and to remain in her home.
Doris is lovingly survived by her children, Joyce Kwasney and her husband Steven, Richard Arnot and his wife Deborah, David Arnot, and Thomas Arnot and his wife Serena; her sister, Helen Kenworthy; and her grandchildren, David Arnot, William Kwasney and his wife Fan, Maria Arnot, Richard Arnot, Gregory Kwasney, and Dylan Arnot.
