Obituary of Rosemarie Gerelli
Rosemarie Gerelli, 80, of Pequannock, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2020.
Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, Rosemarie was the only child of Joseph and Edith Spagnola. She married Carlo Gerelli, of Naples, Italy, in 1972 in Paterson. They started their family and five years later, built a home in Pequannock. They raised their two daughters and remained in the same home all this time, together for 48 years. Rosemarie started her career in the Paterson Board of Education, but worked until retirement, as a secretary of Pequannock Township High School.
Rosemarie was known as a glamorous lover of fashion, an expert Christmas decorator, crafter, baker, artist and cook. Her handmade Christmas ornaments were famous among all who knew her. Hosting parties brought her so much joy, guests always felt welcome and well fed. Most of all, she had a caring heart, donating to various charities her entire life, she was especially moved by the efforts of St. Jude.
Besides being a mother, no greater title could have been given to her than Nonna. Her six grandchildren were the apples of her eye and her walls were covered in their photos. Family was the most important thing to Rosemarie and she loved nothing more than being surrounded by her loved ones.
Rosemarie is lovingly survived by her husband, Carlo; her daughters, Antonietta Henry and her husband Daniel, and Edith Empirio and her husband Joseph; and her grandchildren, Megan, Madelyn, Emily and Brady Henry, and Serena and Camryn Empirio.
The family would like to give love and thanks to Grace Hospice and Aquinas Healthcare for the wonderful home care they provided at this difficult time.
Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosemarie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
